The National Testing Agency (NTA) has achieved a milestone as the recent JEE Main Session 1 examinations witnessed the highest attendance. Across the nation an impressive 95.8 percent of students appeared for Paper 1 (BE/BTech).
An astounding number of over 11 lakh students actively participated in this session. It’s worth noting that the total number of registered candidates for JEE Main stands at 12,31,874 marking an increase of 27 percent compared to the previous year. On the other hand, Paper 2 (BArch and BPlanning) had a lower attendance rate at 75 percent.
In the examinations held in 2022, both Paper 1 (BE/BTech) and Paper 2 (BArch/BPlanning) had attendance rates at 88.2 percent and 57.8 percent respectively. However in the year 2023 the attendance for Paper 1 (BE/BTech) matched this years record with a rate of 95.8 percent; although there were students who appeared for this paper approximately around eight lakhs. Meanwhile, in view of Paper 2 (BArch/BPlanning) in the year (2023) about69.8% students participated.
Session 1 examinations were conducted across a network of centers spanning over 291 cities comprising 544 centers nationally along, with an additional 21 centers. These international destinations included Manama, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore, Kuwait City, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos/Abuja, Colombo, Jakarta, Moscow, Ottawa, Port Louis and Washington DC. Moreover, for the first time, exams were conducted in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Oslo.
Out of the number of registered candidates, 4,06,920 are female while 8,24,945 are male.
NTA’s upcoming initiative called the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2024 Session 2 is scheduled to take place from April 4th to April 15th in the year 2024. This adjustment, in dates changes the examination period from April 1st to April 15th as it was originally planned.
